About us

Our impact

Traditional healthcare commissioning is led by government agencies. At CaTHC, we believe that the community should play a key role in decision making. Our community-controlled commissioning approach will ensure that health servuces are culturally appropriate and meet our community's needs and values.

Our approach

Community-Controlled: prioritise the voices and leadership of local communities in shaping healthcare services that meet their specific needs.

Population-based commissioning:
We adopt a population health approach, focusing on the health and well-being of entire communities rather than individual services or providers.

Collaboration and integration:
We work closely with healthcare providers, government agencies, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and ensure integrated care across all healthcare settings.

Better Planning and Investment:
Our unique commissioning model is designed to make strategic investments that drive long-term health improvements and sustainable outcomes

Healthcare services should be responsive to the needs that are important to the community. As a community controlled healthcare commissioning body for Cape York Peninsula and the Torres Strait Islands we partner and engaging with the community to plan and fund the delivery of health services, that meet the needs and priorities of local communities.

CaTHC communities will have more control on where and how the services are commissioned in the region in all aspects of the commissioning approach, with accountability back to the community.
