Cape and Torres Health Commissioning Ltd (CaTHC) is looking for local community groups and leaders who want to make a difference in the health and wellbeing of their communities.
“Our plan is to have a network of community leadership groups across all 35 communities in the region, but we are starting off small for now.”
Dr Abbe Anderson, CEO of CaTHC, explains, “Expressions of interest are now open for community groups who want to work with CaTHC over the next two years to decide community health and wellbeing priorities and recommend programs for CaTHC to fund using a $1.2m shared Community Wellbeing Funding Pool.”
CaTHC is a community-controlled organisation established by leaders from Cape York, the NPA and the Torres Strait in partnership with Queensland Health and the Commonwealth Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.
“We believe local people understand local needs, strengths and priorities better than anyone.”
Community Leadership Groups work on behalf of their local community and can be:
- A new group formed for this opportunity; or
- An existing community group.
Groups should be trusted within their community and able to bring together different voices and perspectives.
For more information or to submit an expression of interest, visit www.cathc.org.au/CLG.
Expressions of interest close 31 August 2026.
Dr Abbe Anderson is available for interview.
